Overview:
High Exposure Drone Services was engaged to conduct a comprehensive drone inspection of the roofing systems across all buildings at St Vincent’s College in Potts Point, Sydney. The objective was to perform a general condition assessment to identify defects and provide actionable insights for maintenance and repairs.
Scope of Work:
- Aerial Data Capture: Utilise high-resolution drones to capture detailed imagery of the roofs of all buildings on the St Vincent’s College campus.
- Data Management: Upload captured images to an online software platform, organized by individual building for streamlined analysis.
- Defect Identification: Enable a building inspector to analyze the imagery, identify roof defects, and generate a detailed report pinpointing the location of each issue.
- Deliverable: Provide a clear, actionable list of defects requiring further investigation or repair, with precise contextual mapping.

Execution:
High Exposure Drone Services deployed state-of-the-art drones equipped with high-resolution cameras to capture detailed imagery of the entire roofing system across the campus. The drone flights were carefully planned to ensure comprehensive coverage of all buildings, accounting for the complex urban environment of Potts Point. The captured images were uploaded to a secure, cloud-based software platform, where they were systematically organised by building to facilitate efficient analysis.
A qualified building inspector reviewed the high-resolution imagery within the online platform, identifying defects such as cracks, leaks, damaged tiles, and other structural issues. The software allowed for precise mapping of each defect, linking it to its specific location on the respective building’s roof. This process culminated in a comprehensive report that visually highlighted the defects and provided a prioritised list of items for further investigation and repair.
Deliverables
- Detailed Insights: The high-resolution imagery provided a clear and comprehensive view of the roof conditions, enabling accurate defect identification.
- Actionable Deliverables: The report offered St Vincent’s College a precise, building-specific breakdown of roof issues, simplifying the planning of maintenance and repair activities.
- Efficiency and Safety: The inspection was completed in a day and eliminated the need for risky manual inspections, reducing both time and potential safety hazards. Some of the roofs were extremely steep and would have taken several days with an experienced rope access team to complete with potentially less coverage.
Conclusion
The drone inspection project for St Vincent’s College demonstrated High Exposure Drone Services’ ability to deliver precise, efficient, and actionable results. By leveraging advanced drone technology and robust data management, the project provided the client with a clear roadmap for addressing roof maintenance needs, ensuring the longevity and safety of their campus infrastructure.
